Parents Night Out.

Parents whether we stay at home parents or not, run ourselves to death. There is a lot of circumstances that we put kids and family first. This is a great mindset to have.

In fact, this world would be a better place if more people had this mindset.

Parents also have to think about themselves. There are too many times our health, both mental and physical, takes a back seat to what our family needs. We have to care for ourselves. Without us, family is not a family.

I know in my daily life it helps my mental health a lot to take those five or ten minutes by myself. It really doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you do something for yourself every day. I highly suggest you take at least one night a month for you and your significant other.

This does not have to be a fancy affair. Going out on the town to a fancy place for dinner and you end up spending a bunch of money. Not that there’s anything wrong with this either. All you need is a night for just the two of you.

We as guys have the misconception that we do not care about any of this. We have to care about this. Our mental health is more important than any stereotype.

What do we do?

Well, that is an answer that only you and your significant other can answer. Some people like the outdoors and playing around the water. Some other people like to be around people in a setting that they can talk and socialize. I am happy either way.

I love being in the woods. I am happiest most there with just me and my wife but, I also like to be among friends and hanging out together. I know my wife likes to be out among friends a whole lot more than she likes me dragging her out in the woods.

Nothing is always constant though. My wife and I like to do both. A night alone could also mean just watching movies in front of the tv while sitting in the comfort of our own home.

It doesn’t matter what you do. Just do it. Get together with your significant other. Make a night of it. Have some fun and relax.

This is a primer for an ongoing subject that I am going to be writing on. I want to center on a lot of different activities for you as a solo at home dad, parents alone, or the entire family to do together. As many times as I can, I will center on things that you can also learn things from.
