When All Hell Breaks Loose: Stuff you need to survive is the second survival manual by author and survival instructor Cody Lundin. This book is a definite deviation from normal survival manuals. It does not hold your hand and take through the ABC’s of basic survival.
The book starts out talking about the mentality of survival. Where normal manuals only graze over this topic, if they cover it at all, Lundin covers this topic in very great detail. Lundin’s approach to this is very short, easily digestible chapters. Almost to the point that I would have rather they been condensed into larger topics.
Some of what Cody Lundin covers in this book is the basics of survival. Not geared toward being lost in the woods but, geared toward prior preparation of a larger scaled event happening to you and your family. For instance, in the chapter on cooking he covers basic items that anyone should keep in their home to simply be able to cook food without a stove or power.
I do not know how much I follow his logic in this prior preparation. Not that everyone should not be prepared, but it is not what he portrayed on the television show dual survival. He co-hosted Dual Survival from 2010-2014. This is where he really came into the public eye.
Lundin’s background is in primitive survival. He founded the Aboriginal Living Skills Survival School in the 1900’s and has been operating it ever since. He has the background knowledge to live in a passive solar earth home.
In the end, while I did not care for the way he portrayed survival on the TV I think this book is a very underrated survival manual. Many authors barely cover the topics that Lundin covers in great detail here.
There is the basic information! You decide the outcome!
